Charlotte Harris & Hugo Bugg X William Robinson Festival

Sunday 20th July 2025

We are so excited to welcome Charlotte Harris and Hugo Bugg to our festival this year, co-founders of Harris Bugg Studio, a values-driven and award-winning landscape design practice. Together they have won six gold medals, two silver gilts and two best in shows at RHS shows. Their RHS Chelsea garden for spinal injuries charity Horatio’s Garden won the coveted Best in Show in 2023 and was the first garden on Main Avenue to put the priorities of all those with different mobility needs at its heart.

Together, they have been called ‘pioneering design talents of their generation’ by the RHS and every garden they make is informed by a commitment to exceptional design and connecting people with nature. They create immersive gardens all over the UK and Europe encompassing high-end residential, public, botanic, commercial historic, and conservation landscapes. Storytelling, especially the weaving of narratives and the spirit of place is central to their approach. They are known for meaningful collaborations with independent craftspeople and skilled artisans to help add aesthetic and social value to their work. This, combined with an inventive and careful use of materials and plants ensures every garden they make has a timeless quality.

In their talk at Gravetye Manor, the duo will discuss their design inspirations and how they approach the diverse range of projects they work on including the Kitchen Garden at RHS Bridgewater, with its edible forest garden, classic kitchen garden, and apothecary garden; a series of productive, traditional, and experimental garden rooms they designed for a private, rural estate in Oxfordshire; a garden on the isle of Man inspired by the fusion of norse and Manx culture, and their work transforming the gardens surrounding a Grade II listed farmhouse located within the Dorset AONB.

Arrival at 10:30am for the talk at 11.00am, followed by lunch in our glass fronted dining room at 12.00 noon. Please note guests will be seated at shared tables.

£155.00 per person – includes tea/coffee on arrival, the talk, 3 course lunch, drinks and entrance to the rest of the festival.

After the talk, we invite you to enjoy the gardens at Gravetye Manor at this special event celebrating the life of their creator, pioneering Victorian gardener William Robinson. Join us for a day of celebrations, which include: garden talks, plant sale, flower demonstrations, local cheese showcase, Morris dancing, and much more.
