Our wisteria Shiro-noda has been at its peak over recent weeks

Photographs by Claire Takacs

Our white wisteria ‘Shiro-noda’ has been at its peak over the last week. Walking through it is an immersive experience that many of our guests have been enjoying. Not only a feast for the eyes but the scent is heavenly too!

The original pergola fell down in the 80’s and the restoration was overseen by our Head Gardener Tom about 10 years ago, using pictures from The English Flower Garden, William Robinson’s biggest selling book. Plants were replaced too but one of Robinson’s original wisterias remains from over 100 years ago.
