This can be considered one of the jewels in Gravetye’s crown. The two-acre garden is enclosed by a unique elliptical sandstone wall, which holds the warmth in and keeps the wind and hungry animals out. We use the space to grow cut flowers for the hotels florists as well as fruit and vegetables for the kitchens. We concentrate on growing ingredients which only taste at their best direct from the garden and everything we grow is served in the restaurant. As autumn approaches we continue to take large harvests of successional sown crops as well as fruit such as autumn raspberries, apples, plums and pears. As the old crops are removed we are currently sowing green manure in their place to help invigorate the soil for next years crops.
